Contemporary Kyiv is one of the biggest and most beautiful cities in Europe. It stands pre-eminent as the administrative, economic, scientific, cultural and educational center of Ukraine and one of its main travel attractions. The city covers an area of 827 sq. km and is home for 3 million people most of whom are Ukrainians.

The history of Kyiv dates back to the 5th century A. D. In the 9th –12th centuries Kyiv became a capital of mighty medieval state – Kyivan Rus. In 1991 Kyiv became the capital of independent Ukraine.

Kyiv is located on the both banks of the Dnipro River. 42 % of the city area have been built up. The rest of the territory is reservoirs as well as forests, parks and other green plantations.
